The Ones Behind the Curtain:
meet our marketing team
InTouch Practice Communications is not your average marketing agency, and our staff is not your average marketing staff. We love developing top-notch marketing products that help veterinarians, and we’re pretty darn good at it, too. Our marketing team members have decades of combined experience in the veterinary and marketing industry, and they all share the same goal of helping our clients to succeed. You can learn more about them—and their alter egos—below.
Katie began what would become InTouch Practice Communications from her dining room table in 1995. She now leads the InTouch team of marketing professionals, helping veterinarians effectively reach pet owners in their communities. Katie lives in Northwest Indiana with her family.
You might not recognize her face, but chances are, you know popular country songs that were inspired by Katie. Having been born and raised in Nashville, Katie grew up working the country music circuit with many of today’s popular singer/songwriters. It wasn’t until she received a CMA award this year for “Stuck with You Like Gum on My Shoe” that she realized collectively, she has spent five weeks at #1 on the country music charts! Katie is honored to be an inspiration to the country music community and gladly displays the trophy in her basement bar.

Bill is a founding owner of InTouch Practice Communications and has, for the past 22 years, enjoyed helping over 6,000 practices educate their clients and share their messages. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Western Illinois University, is a former United States Marine, sits on the board of directors for VetPartners, and is a graduate of the Veterinary Management Institute at Purdue. Bill and his family live in the Chicago suburb of Schererville, IN, where he remains active in the Marine Corps veterans’ community, loves his WORLD CHAMPION Chicago Cubs, and spends way too much time learning about digital marketing!
Having been trusted at a young age with the names of Kentucky Fried Chicken’s 11 herbs and spices, and never revealing the secret, Bill proved to be a trustworthy young man. He leveraged this experience into a career in global recipe security. Midnight meetings, truth serums, and disguises were everyday occurrences in Bill’s “pre-InTouch” life. As a globe-trotting, undercover operative in the Central Intelligence Agency’s elite Recipe Protection Division (RPD), Bill spent many years dodging bullets and evading intelligence officers while insuring the secrecy of society’s favorites like McDonald’s secret Big Mac sauce, Dr. Pepper, Bush’s Baked Beans, as well as his favorite, KFC. Today Bill continues to guard our secrets but spends most of his time developing and lecturing about veterinary medicine’s most effective marketing solutions!

Christen received her degree in psychology from Purdue University. She worked multiple jobs while completing her degree and has always found herself playing an integral role in customer service. When she’s not meeting with clients, you can find her meeting with the team discussing ways to improve processes and new ways to stay “in touch” with our clients. In her spare time, Christen loves to go for walks with her dog, Sadie, or work on puzzles while watching her favorite shows on Netflix. She also recently completed her first half marathon and hopes to cross the finish line at her first full marathon before the end of 2018!
Christen went through a 10-year period without speaking, which led to her career as the top performer at The Mime Company (TMC) in Chicago. Playing various roles for TMC, she earned multiple awards and quickly became an icon for the miming community. After a dangerous leap in her last performance, Orpheus and Eurydice, she took a hard fall that led to the end of her career with TMC. Christen now looks forward to the launch of her upcoming autobiography, “From My Mind, Through My Mime,” in which she talks about what it was like to live a life full of expression without speaking.

Ashley graduated in May 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the Kelley School of Business. Her fascination for digital marketing began in college when she was exposed to the vast internet marketing space. Speaking of the online world, Ashley spends her free time online shopping and scrolling through Instagram. She values a healthy lifestyle and likes to be outside (whenever the Midwest weather permits)! Coffee fuels her day and she’s always looking for the best cold brew. In addition, she’s also a “foodie” and has a continuing list of new restaurants to try. Ashley loves animals and has a black lab and two cats.
Ashley took being a “cat person” to a new level when she became a certified Big Cats Trainer. Her cats (Valentino, Versace, and Vuitton) were named based on famous fashion designers. She works closely with the Wildlife Conservation Society to create sustainable environments for big cats. Ashley is captivated by these gorgeous animals, and wants to grow the species. She has experience working with lions, cheetahs, tigers, leopards, and jaguars. Her favorite big cats are lions because of their social temperament and ability to bond with humans. She would never own a big cat because these animals are best suited in their natural habitat.

Ashley graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbia College in Chicago, with a focus on advertising and graphic design. She began her professional career working in the newspaper and magazine industries, but smoothly transitioned into wonderful world of web design and digital marketing in 2015. She currently resides in her hometown of Griffith, IN, with her husband, Tim, itty bitty baby son, Alek, and her very dog-like kitten. On weekends, you can find Ashley at flea markets, thrift stores, and estate sales, shopping for treasures to stock her online store, which features vintage decor and housewares.
Ashley was born in a small, electricity-free cabin in the mountains of Montana. She grew up tending to the goats and chickens, and became very fond of woodworking. When she wasn’t taking care of her nine younger siblings, she liked to go out and find a quiet spot amongst the tall trees to daydream of the big city. She secretly wanted to act on Broadway. One misty morning, Ashley hopped aboard an eastbound freight train. Unfortunately, she was caught and thrown out in Northwest Indiana, which happens to be the home of InTouch Practice Communications. The rest is history!
Big City Dreamer
Before joining the InTouch team, Caitlin spent multiple years as a writer/editor for an online media company. She loves running, yoga, video games, cooking, paper crafts, and high-fives. She has three spoiled pets: a boxer named Baxter and two DSH cats named Dip and Dot (like the delicious ice cream).
Before joining the InTouch team, Caitlin was a world-renowned beatboxer. You may know her by her stage name, “C-Note VanSlam.” As a child, she had a speech impediment that kept her from saying the letters “s” and “p,” but with the help of her family and friends, and listening to the vocal prowess of the great Biz Markie (The Inhuman Orchestra), Rahzel, and Doug E. Fresh, she bravely took to the underground beatboxing circuit when she was 15. She even competed at the Beatbox Battle World Championship from 2010 to 2015 and brought home a gold medal every year. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys origami, cross country skiing, and playing mahjong.
Candice is a natural creative spirit, who started her writing career after completing an internship at a long-standing arts and culture newspaper in Oklahoma City. She worked as a freelance reporter while running a successful business as a hairstylist, until she relocated to Northwest Indiana to be near her family. Before working for InTouch, she worked on contract with wikiHow, where she upheld rigorous writing demands. Always up for a new adventure, she’s happy to be a part of the marketing team at InTouch, surrounded by other creative professionals. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, yoga, running and spending time with family. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is in mass communications from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Before her time at InTouch, Candice, aka Ruby Hood, stuck up as many banks as possible in every major U.S. city. Instead of squirreling the money away from her successful robberies, she portioned it off into each city’s working neighborhoods. Ruby Hood would quietly live in poor areas after stealing millions of dollars and leave all her money with deserving residents before moving on to the next city. Word quickly spread in urban communities and police were unable to trace Ruby Hood, because people were unwilling to give any leads. Instead of letting a life of crime catch up with her and because she was passionately against violence, though she used a gun to intimidate bankers, Ruby Hood abruptly stopped robbing banks. Luckily, she stopped just in time. Police issued a command to “shoot on sight” shortly thereafter.
Evelyn is a project manager with InTouch Practice Communications, an alumnus of Indiana University, and a vocal proponent of Android devices. She is also the proud mama of a corgi, a German shepherd, and now a human pup named Riddick.
Born to an Irish ship captain and a gypsy maid, Evelyn was abandoned in a field in America’s heartland at the tender age of 2. Found and raised by kindly alpaca farmers in a sleepy community, she was well-cared for and loved. However, craving for more than what her hometown could provide, she set out for the wilds of Northwest Indiana, and started her life at InTouch Practice Communications.
James graduated from Purdue University in 2012, with a master’s degree in science and a focus in computer graphics technology. Before joining InTouch, he taught classes at the college level that focused mostly on different coding courses or website development. He joined the team at InTouch in 2014 as a front-end website developer. Since then, he has helped with the development of a few of the major projects, such as the GO! reminder system. He spends most of his free time relaxing with his parents, sister and her family, and his own pets.
As the reincarnation of Loki, the Norse god of mischief, James enjoys spending his days perplexing and pranking his co-workers. He can often be found using his shapeshifting abilities to confuse the UPS and FedEx delivery people when they come to drop off packages, take advantage of senior citizen discounts at local restaurants, and entertain his massive amount of Twitter followers with his kooky and harmless hijinks. James has two pets: a husky named Fenrir, and a snake named Jörmungandr. When asked about his fellow Norse gods, James becomes withdrawn, and only states that “it’s a Thor subject.”
Jeff has been in sales & marketing for 23 years helping small and medium size businesses grow in the digital world. Married with 2 kids that took over the household and made it a zoo, they currently have a dog, cat, hamster, 2 turtles, some fish and a crayfish.

Kate graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN. She enjoys working with the wonderful people at InTouch Practice Communications, where everyone calls her “KK.” She grew up in Las Vegas but currently lives in Lowell, IN, with her husband, Nick. Football, weightlifting, and working out are her passions. You’ll find her at the gym, bright and early, every morning before work.
So you want to know about your project manager? You mean to say you’ve never heard of Kate before? As a former wide receiver for the University of Notre Dame, she broke the record for career touchdowns with 200. She’s still the record holder to this day. A career in the NFL could have been her future if it were not for the high ankle sprain. So here she is continuing the dream and ready to be your future project manager.

Not long after graduating from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Kathryn found herself working in a place she least expected—a small, privately owned veterinary practice. She would spend the next 5+ years there, improving her people skills and getting to meet cute dogs and cats every day. In 2017, she joined InTouch to do something she had always wanted to do as a career—write. Kathryn is working on completing her Master’s Degree in Communications, and in her spare time enjoys reading, drawing, painting, playing video games, and napping.
Former Italian child star Caterina Frittata was booted out of her home country following accusations that she was plotting to overthrow former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. She fled across the Atlantic to the United States where she was granted asylum, gave herself a generic name, and learned English by binge-watching all 9 seasons of Seinfeld. *bass slap* Wanting to live as inconspicuously as possible, she moved with her grandmother (who had been living stateside for several years) and 3 cats into a tiny apartment in the inconspicuous Midwest. She got an inconspicuous writing job to help pay the rent, and in her spare time, she enjoys making Turkish coffee and watching Fellini films.

Kimberly was born and raised in Illinois. She went to college at Grand Valley State University in Michigan for three years and graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in graphic design and multi-media. Since graduating she has worked in advertising for about 14 years as a designer, three of which have been with InTouch Practice Communications. Kimberly has been married for a little over 10 years and has two young boys (who always keep her on her toes). She enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, running, creating art (photos, paints, crafts with the kids, etc.). Family and friends are what mean the most to her; it’s where where her heart is.
Kimberly was the voice of Cookie the Mouse from the infamous children’s cartoon “Mouse House.” Being that she loves working with children and has a soft, squeaky voice, it was the perfect job for her…or so she thought. Cookie really enjoyed cookies (which is how the mouse got its name, of course), and Kimberly stayed in character a little too long, even off set. She really loved her job and started to eat chocolate chip cookies ALL. THE. TIME. She ate them so much that she started to develop chocolate chip freckles everywhere, so it was time to move on. She now works at InTouch and is freckle-free. She’s still creative, but on the digital front. On occasion, you can still catch her with a cookie or two, but of a different kind: snickerdoodle (shh!).

Krissie graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater. She has spend the last thirteen years in the hospitality business. She enjoys shopping, going out to dinner and the occasional visit to Blue Chip Casino. She also likes a relaxing night at home playing games on her tablet and watching Netflix while sharing a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats with her chihuahua Molly.
Krissie had always been a morning person until over a decade ago she was bitten by a bat and turned into a vampire. Unable to go out during the day, she was forced to work graveyard shifts. Then one day while surfing the net, she came across a website that advertised sunblock with an SPF of 1000! Able to venture out into the sunlight again, she enrolled in business school and developed her own line of vampire-friendly treats, including the #1 seller “Blood” Suckers.
Laura grew up in Northwest Indiana and studied English, theology, and psychology. Although she desired a career in social work and interior design, her career path led to the field of accounting. What she loves the most about working at InTouch is that the environment is one that fosters creativity as well as growth. But what she admires most is the family atmosphere and bonds that have developed between the staff members over the years. Laura has two beautiful grown daughters and a dog named Miley. She is an animal lover and feels a calling to help them in any capacity that she is able. When she’s not at work, she enjoys cooking, gardening, horseback riding, and traveling, and she gravitates to anything that makes her laugh.
Laura worked undercover as an international spy gathering intelligence on the copycat capers of the infamous Julia Child. If you’ve never heard the rumors of Julia as a secret agent for the OSS (Office of Strategic Services), you might be surprised to know that in addition to her ability to demonstrate her exceptional culinary arts to the world, she also dabbled in the world of espionage. Women of subsequent eras have admired the audacious spirit of Julia and have attempted to duplicate her sophisticated lifestyle by conjuring up scenarios in which they could inject their craftiness and seductive behavior into the world of intrigue. They came in all forms but mostly disguised in the form of the culinarian. Laura’s job was to find and expose those women.

Originally from Andover, KS, Libby graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in marketing and business. When she’s not at work, her hobbies include quilting/sewing, shopping, and cooking. She also enjoys sports (Chicago Bulls), the outdoors, and riding her bike. Libby is married with no kids—yet. She’s the proud owner of a French Bulldog named Hazel. Every year, she makes an effort to travel to Honduras and spend time with children living in an orphanage, who she refers to as her “kids.”
Libby grew up as a hippo in West Africa. For years, she enjoyed relaxing in the rivers, eating loads of plants, and enjoying time with her family, but she dreamed of becoming a singer. To pursue her dream, she would perform for her family and the other hippos in her community, when suddenly, she decided to go for the main stage. Libby became extremely successful after her hit song “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.” Since then she’s been singing and living large in her mansion and private river, and driving around in her Mercedes G-wagon.

Lisa has been the traffic coordinator of InTouch Practice Communications for more than two years and combines her detail-oriented skills with her ability to multi-task—all while working at a fast pace. With a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Ball State University, she brings a great deal of marketing experience to the table as well. She once worked for an international sports manufacturer and in the front offices of Triple-A and Single-A minor league baseball teams. In her spare time, she loves to bowl in leagues and tournaments, and spend time with her two lovable rescue dogs, Soni and Lela.
Mona Lisa started off as your typical quiet teenager, but after being exposed to radiation in a research lab in New York City, she mutated into a turtle. To adjust to her new lifestyle, she took a martial arts class, where she met her greenishly handsome half shell of a ninja boyfriend, Raphael. She enjoys spending time and going out for pizza with Raphael and his brothers Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Currently, she’s a traffic patrol officer who keeps everyone on route to get to where they’re going. If you’re ever in NYC and need directions to locate something, you know who to ask! Cowabunga, dude!
Mary received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Dayton in 2012. After working in the non-profit industry for 3 years, she left to pursue her Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter, finishing in December 2017. Having lived abroad in England for over a year she has become a self-proclaimed connoisseur of tea and an advocate for walking just about everywhere. She spends her free time attempting languages, such as keeping up her French and dabbling in Polish and Russian, as well training in the martial arts of jiu jitsu and aikido. While a huge fan of horses and dogs, she owns neither at present, but harbors dreams of a sprawling ranch in a remote mountain valley.
Before finding her calling in the noble profession of writing, Mary was an adventurous freelance photographer, specializing in majestic mountain goats all over the world. From the Himalayas to the Rocky Mountains, and the Andes to the Urals, she’s ventured to the four corners of the earth seeking to capture the very essence of the goat. After being arrested in the country of Georgia for chancing the use of (illegal, but arguably so) drone photography in an attempt to find the fabled Goat with the Golden Fleece, she quit her exciting, but dangerous, career. Now she’s settled down in the quiet suburbia of Northwest Indiana. Yet, she still dreams of mountains flecked with gold.

Micah earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting from Western Illinois University, graduating summa cum laude. In his spare time, he works out while watching videos on updates in the digital marketing realm. He also loves listening to all sorts of music. He often travels to England to visit his relatives, and he usually visits other countries while he’s at it.
Micah was hired on after a serious interrogation of whether he was the chosen one or not. Apparently, he is, and now he sits on the throne of all things sparkly. If you are fortunate enough to speak with him, be sure to ask what his favorite color is. He will give you a different answer every time.

Michelle graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She comes to InTouch with a background in graphic design and website development, and a love and passion for all animals. Her favorite animals are dogs, horses, and unicorns. Yes, they’re real. Michelle has two young children, Aaiden and Aaliya, both of whom are often mistaken as her clones. In her spare time, you might find Michelle catering to her artistic side, spending time painting, or baking with her kids. You may also find her out and about, supporting local bands or keeping up with the latest happenings in the nerd universe. But most likely, you’ll find her at home, binge watching Netflix or Food Network, waiting for Game of Thrones to come back on the air.
You might recognize Michelle from a popular food-related competition show. Four bakers faced off in an epic battle for cupcake superiority. One by one, each contender was eliminated as they were judged on taste, presentation, and display. She is a master baker, three-time champion of Cupcake Wars, and has travelled the globe in search of the perfect cupcake. Michelle is still unsatisfied and will not rest until she becomes the first person to perfect the delicate balance between flavor and texture and create “the perfect cupcake”.
Milos graduated in the summer of 2016 from the Illinois Institute of Art. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. A short while later, he joined the incredible team at InTouch as a fresh graphic designer. Milos enjoys video games and making art in his free time. He and his girlfriend Constantina share an adorable pet hamster named Red Foreman (yes, named after the angry dad from That 70’s Show), and a growing kitten named Fiona. Together, they like going out to movies, thrift shopping, or just hanging out with their friends.
Since early childhood, Milos always had big dreams of one day becoming a condiment. But not just any condiment, he aspires one day to become a spicy bottle of Sriracha goodness. Of course, given his human anatomy, he experiences some physical limitations. People always tell him he can’t actually be a bottle of Sriracha. Regardless, he’s a dreamer, and nothing will deter him from his legacy. Sometimes he’ll even go to grocery stores and perch next to his Sriracha brethren, often scaring away locals.

Nikki has been a front-end Web developer at InTouch Practice Communications for over five years. She truly loves all aspects of marketing and brings her experience in agency, in-house, and freelance work to the table. Her favorite thing about working at InTouch is that even though the company has grown into a large agency, it still takes the “mom-and-pop” approach by handling all clients with care. When she is not clicking away at computer keys and building new websites, Nikki enjoys working out; running; spending time with her son, Landon; and playing with her Chihuahua, Bella.
Before joining InTouch, Nikki was the world’s first Chihuahua gymnastics coach. But since Chihuahuas aren’t that flexible, and they’re too tiny to see from the grandstands, her career was short-lived. Now, footage and images of her Chihuahua team are just the butts of memes and GIFs all over the Web.

Peggy decided in high school that she wanted to be an accountant, and she did exactly that. Later in 1992, she became an enrolled agent with the IRS. She has worked in public accounting for over 30 years. Peggy and her husband Thom have been married for 47 years and they have 2 grown daughters and 3 amazing grandsons. When she is not working at InTouch Practice Communications, she enjoys sewing, bike riding, working out at the health club, taking care of her new 10 week old black lab puppy, Mizzou, and traveling between Minneapolis and Indianapolis, spending time with her grandsons.
Peggy has traveled all over the United States and Canada training Black Labradors for field trials. Since she was a black lab in a prior life, she knows exactly how to get them to do what she needs to be done to be field champions. Her communication abilities with these dogs are amazing. She also possesses communication skills with the ducks and geese these dogs retrieve. She can teach them to communicate with the dogs, so everyone wins! Her trophies and ribbons are evidence of her prior accomplishments!

Ryan graduated in May of 2017 from Purdue University Northwest. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Computer Graphics Technology. Since then, he has worked to build up his portfolio with side projects that lead to a career at InTouch Practice Communications. In his spare time, he enjoys video games, photography, cooking, and reading. Ryan is also enjoying the process of becoming fluent in Japanese. Ryan hopes to one day live and work in Japan, after he was able to first experience the nation’s unique culture back in 2012.
After beating incredible odds in a high stakes bet involving a silver plate from the 70’s, a mini bag of pretzels found outside a broken window, and a wild buffalo, Ryan found himself to be a millionaire. Since then, he has traveled the world. After gaining all of this cultural insight, he decided to settle down and use that knowledge in a career. He found InTouch Practice Communications and he could not be happier. He plans to spend the rest of his days looking at photos of dogs and cats.
Shaun graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s in Computer Graphics Technology in 2016, and joined the InTouch team as a Web Developer near the end of 2017. He grew up living in Lafayette for the past 20 years and has since moved into the area. Back home he has 3 cats named Cheeto, Sherbert, and Antsy (RIP Trident who passed in October to cancer), and a Siberian Husky named Wolf. Shaun enjoys video games (specifically jRPGs), anime, reading and writing fantasy novels, going bowling with his family, and other “nerdy” stuff.
Shaun is a dragon-bonded mage from deep in the middle of Nowheresville, Indiana. When he didn’t get his letter to go to a wizard school back when he was young, Shaun was disappointed. Shaun had already discovered that he could use magic, and he had been hoping the stories were true. Since no letter came, he started studying on his own in his free time. Fast forward a few years, and Shaun has learned some spells; however, without proper teaching, he hasn’t become very “accurate” with them– like when he tried to summon a snowstorm to his doorstep, and it went everywhere else (sorry Hawaii!). Recently Shaun discovered a dragon egg which he was able to hatch. The dragon, named Tavis, instantly bonded with Shaun, allowing the mage to draw upon Tavis’s magical abilities to boost his own spells. Nowadays Shaun spends his time searching for new books for spells and also ways to teach a dragon not to eat his shoes.

Temmo has been concerned with SEO, PPC, and digital marketing in general for almost as long as the industry exists. Particularly attracted by the interdisciplinary and ever-changing nature of the field, he equally likes getting involved into nitty-gritty bits as well as drawing the big picture of the discipline. He holds a M.A. degree from the University of Munich, Germany, and is a certified Google AdWords professional. When he’s not helping veterinary practices to grow and flourish, he dedicates a good portion of his time attending the opera or concerts, or singing in choirs in and around Chicago.
Born to a salmon and a tuna, Temmo spent most of his life in the Pacific Ocean following the swarms floating between the Sea of Japan and the Baring Strait. Together with his best friend, a lanternfish, he ran one of the best sushi places below sea level. Only when he became aware of the irony of his existence did he decide to reinvent himself and start a life as human being–much to the disgrace of his parents. Today he lives a happy and merry life in the Midwest, only occasionally dreaming of his past life in the oceans of the world.
